John Jenkins
Owner/President/Coach
Coach John Jenkins grew up in Wyckoff, New Jersey, a small town where there were ample places to run, play and work off some energy.
John started his journey by getting his Personal Training Certificate and becoming a P.T. at Georgetown’s Definitions Gym. While getting himself into tip-top shape, he realized there was a need for children to be taught the importance of being physically fit at an early age.
John’s wife Annie came on board in summer 2006 as a swim instructor and yoga instructor. Annie is a Budding Yogi certified yoga instructor and shares her husband’s passion for fitness. Since 2006, they have collaboratively been adding classes and seeing more than 400 kids a week.
Over a thousand children have participated in Just For Kids programs since its creation in September of 2002, and Coach John hopes to see many more! He knows that an active child is a happier, healthier child!

Annie Jenkins
Coach
A native to Virginia, Annie Jenkins grew up in McLean and attended Potomac School where she first learned to play lacrosse and field hockey. Annie went on to attend George School, located outside of Philadelphia, where she continued to play field hockey and lacrosse. She enjoyed being captain of her lacrosse team her last two years there.
Annie went on to attend Yale College but didn’t return to lacrosse until later years, following a long stint living in Costa Rica and a few years after her return to the US. Once she met and began dating John Jenkins, owner of Just For Kids, she jumped headlong into assisting her soon-to-be husband and fell in love with coaching little kids. From there it was a simple side step to introducing lacrosse skills classes to the Just For Kids coaching repertoire.
While Annie has and is willing to coach any sport from soccer to sports and movement, yoga and more, her true love is building confidence in young girls as they acquire and hone their lacrosse skills, hopefully preparing to enter leagues or join school teams where they can truly grow and blossom from a strong foundation of practiced skills. Sports were fundamental in forming Annie’s character and approach to the world and she believes sports offer girls a safe haven and an amazing environment to grow, learn and build strong friendships and self esteem.
Annie has taught lacrosse skills classes since 2012 for Just For Kids. She has also coached her daughter’s lacrosse teams (3 seasons per year) since 2015 and coached the Hardy Middle School girls lacrosse team for their first two years as a middle school program, starting in 2018. This last year, Annie and the Hardy team won the Washington DC city championship. She is a US Lacrosse certified Level 2 coach and pursuing her final, Level 3 certification this year. She is also picking up field hockey again after a long hiatus, assisting Coach Vernon, and will pursue US Field Hockey certifications in 2019, as well.
