John Jenkins of Just For Kids DC grew up in the community of Wyckoff, New Jersey. Coach John Jenkins discovered early on the value of staying active and healthy. His passion for fitness led him to a career in personal training and ultimately inspired him to address an important need: teaching children about physical wellness from a young age. Joined by his wife Annie, a dedicated swim and yoga instructor, John has built a thriving program that reaches hundreds of kids each week. Together, they have created Just For Kids—a place where fun meets fitness and lifelong habits are formed. Their mission is simple yet powerful: to help every child become happier and healthier through movement.John started his journey by getting his Personal Training Certificate and becoming a P.T. at Georgetown’s Definitions Gym. While getting himself into tip-top shape, he realized there was a need for children to be taught the importance of being physically fit at an early age.

John’s wife Annie came on board in summer 2006 as a swim instructor and yoga instructor. Annie is a Budding Yogi certified yoga instructor and shares her husband’s passion for fitness. Since 2006, they have collaboratively been adding classes and seeing more than 400 kids a week.

John Jenkins of Just For Kids DC have had over a thousand children participate in Just For Kids programs since its creation in September of 2002, and Coach John hopes to see many more! He knows that an active child is a happier, healthier child!

John’s early experiences running and playing outdoors fueled a lifelong passion for fitness, prompting him to earn his Personal Training Certificate and begin his career at Georgetown’s Definitions Gym. It was there he saw firsthand the critical need to teach children about physical wellness from a young age—a realization that sparked the creation of Just For Kids. With the support of his wife Annie, an enthusiastic swim instructor and certified yoga teacher, John has built a program that now inspires over 400 children each week to discover the fun in staying active. Their combined expertise ensures each class is both engaging and educational, fostering habits that lead to healthier lives. Through their unwavering commitment, Coach John and Annie have helped more than a thousand children embrace movement as a joyful part of everyday life—proving that by starting healthy routines early, we empower kids to grow happier and stronger for years to come. By nurturing a love for movement and wellness from an early age, Coach John and Annie have created a lasting impact that empowers children to lead happier, healthier lives well into the future.
